Ya, small reminder, the dead line for the payment is week 11, friday 27/3/2008, before 3.30pm (look like pass up assignment~~~hahaha~~actually is juz because PY6 will have class until that time~ lol)  so, i already pay it, how about you??? ^^

Finally, the poster was out! As the poster has out it also means that the tickets are start selling from now. ^^ The feature of the ticket is it’s Unique for everyone. Yes, though I’m not talking about the design here but everyone have their own name printed on the ticket. Besides, the ticket’s colour for guys and girls is different. Therefore, look forward to the ticket and don’t wait anymore, QUICKLY go and purchase it!

Some question regarding the Prom Night:

1. Starry Starry Night only open to all UTAR psychology students and their friends. Psychology students can always invite friends from other courses, other college/universities or even friends that have started working. As Long As It Is Your Friends.

2. The ticket purchased is unlimited. However, it can purchased ONLY by the psychology students.

3. When paying the fee, we will give you a piece of receipt with Receipt No., Name, I.C. No. and Fee on it. PLEASE KEEP THIS RECEIPT WELL because it is for redemption of the ticket. The Receipt No. represents your ticket no.

4. Again, after you get the ticket please do KEEP IT WELL unless you don’t want to attend the prom. No one will be admitted with no ticket.

The Length
“The shorter, the better”
Say bye bye to those ankle-length gowns and look for dresses in tea length, knee length and mini skirts. You can go for dress of any length that you are comfortable in. Just make sure that it goes nowhere near your ankle and more towards your knees.

The Design

Sprinkle all over your dress, clustered at certain places or even highlighting specific parts of your body.
If you want something simple, go for a prom dress in prints, wither floral or graphic ones. For short dresses, ruffles and bows work well. The polka dots, along with wide sashes – in colors clashing with that of the dress and balloon style hemlines – can help you show of those ‘curvylicious’ legs.

The Colors
“Bright and vivacious”
Punch colors are expected to rule this year. However, if you think bright colour is not suitable for you you can always opt for white. It will make you stand out from the crowd of the usual ‘black’ dresses that are so often seen on a prom night. Blue is another color that is being adopted by designers for their prom collection. Combine a blue dress with accessories in a contrasting color, making heads turn.

This can be done easily. Try putting on a white shirt and hold a white sheet of paper next to your face while standing in the most natural light possible. Well, here are some colours tips for you. Pantone, the world most well-known colour leading company and as a guideline in the fashion industry has published a report regarding Spring 2009 colours. Without any wait, I will introduce it one by one.

• Palace Blue – a favorite among designers this season, takes a steadfast, classic, spring navy-like tone and makes it sparkle. Paired with just about any color in the report, it offers many intriguing spring combinations.
• Lavender – presents a softer, more summery hue, extending the mystical aspects of purple available last fall.
• Super Lemon – brings a fun, optimistic outlook to the palette. Its luminosity is determined to evoke a smile and attract the roving consumer’s eyes.
• Salmon Rose – The subtlest of oranges, flattering to most complexions and is beautiful with a summer glow.
• Fuchsia Red – sensual and seductive for clothing, as well as lipstick and nail polish selections, this spring. With its blue undertones, this cool red is a real show-stopper, adding a sense of elegance to the palette.
• Rose Dust – breaks away from the typical neutrals associated with spring by adding dimension with subtle rose undertones.
• Slate Gray – its bluish-green undertonesmis a nuanced neutral that can be paired with any of the other nine colors in the report.
• Vibrant Green – the quintessential spring hue, brings a true verdancy to the palette in a time of revitalization.

Anyway, this just act as a reference. The traditional black and white colours still the all time favourite. So if you’re a black and white lover just goes for it! By the way, the bright red color for our Chinese New Year is a good choice for Spring season too. Those happened to buy nice red dresses for Chinese New Year you’re the lucky one! Show it to all your lovely RED dresses during the prom. It must attract lots of attentions!

The word prom is short for promenade, meaning a march of the guests at the beginning of a ball or other formal event. Although proms were first mentioned in the high school yearbooks of the 1930s and 1940s, it is believed that it may have existed as early as late 1800s (Victorian era) when social class distinctions were important that day. It is only existed among upper classes debutante balls in high society where girls would be escorted into a grand hall for their official introduction to the social dating scene. Invitations were exclusive and etiquette is a must here. In other words, this is an occasion meant to their future wedding.

Later, parents in the middle class noticed and admired the poise of the debutantes and wished the same for their own young teens. Thus, proms were created as less expensive, less elaborate affairs where teenagers could meet in their finest clothes to share dinner (and sometimes dancing) while learning social etiquette together.

Historians believe proms existed among college students at this time as well, taking evidence from the journal of an Amherst College student from 1894 which described the dance as prom he had attended at nearby Smith College. The formal dance we now call prom was called “the prom” during this time. However, proms didn’t evolve around college students until it became an iconic status in high schools.

In the early 1900s, it is still a simple tea dance for high school students in their Sunday best. During the 1920s and 1930s, it started to expand into an annual class banquet at which they arrived in party clothes and danced. In the 1950s after the World War II, as Americans enjoyed the luxury of the economy proms began to become elaborate, expensive events. The venues gradually moved to hotel ballrooms and country clubs as well as more attentions were paid to their outfits. Competition popped up nowhere as the designation of “prom queen” became an important distinction of popularity. It also served as an announcement of engagement for the “best couple” after the prom court had been crowned and recognized.

Today, proms are growing more and more liberal in the 21st century. It is no longer a dating event but more to commemorate students’ life and friendship. Although tradition dictates that a guy asks a girl to the prom, more and more girls take the initiative and do the asking. Nontraditional couples are also becoming a more common sight at the prom. Anyway, it is a time for fun and the creation of memories for everyone to enjoy.
